Dr. Gregory “Greg” Kuldanek

Medical Director

Dr. Gregory “Greg” Kuldanek is an Internal Medicine and HIV specialist who has been practicing medicine for over 35 years. He graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1983, and while there was involved with a community based STI screening initiative as a volunteer. He did his residency in Grand Rapids, MI at Blodgett and St. Mary Hospitals. It was during residency where he met his husband Kent.

After residency he was asked to join a small private practice group. This was at the start of the AIDS epidemic, and quickly became known as a leader in HIV/AIDS care. As the only openly gay physician in the city he also quickly became the provider to go to for gay men’s health care needs. Given his willingness to serve the gay and lesbian population he was approached by leaders in the trans community to help with their healthy care needs. While reluctant at first due to lack of training in this area, he recognized the need for local trans services, and learned from the patients themselves. They came prepared to those first encounters with treatment protocols and a wealth of other information and experiences. Some of his patients would drive hundreds of miles to be cared for by him.

After nearly 30 years of practice in Grand Rapids it was time for a change. Greg and his husband decided to move to the Palm Springs area in 2014. Instead of retiring he went to work as a volunteer physician at Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine where once again he was helping some of the neediest people in the valley. There he took it upon himself to learn Spanish as so many of their clients speak little or no English. While rewarding, he missed being involved with HIV and sexual health care and joined PS Test without hesitation in June of 2023
